PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia finally won their first road racing medal in the Asian Cycling Championships, thanks to Mohamed Adiq Husainie Othman.
It was only a silver but there were smiles all around in the Malaysian camp as Adiq finished just half a bike’s length behind gold medallist Tomohiro Kinoshita of Japan in the 128km race in the men’s Under-23 category. Iranian Arvin Moazemi took the bronze. All three clocked 3’02:05.
“I was actually expecting a gold in the race.
PETALING JAYA: It will be a relief to the Malaysian camp that reigning Asian keirin champion Josiah Ng will not miss the World Championships in Melbourne from April 4-8.
Josiah was involved in a crash with Ireland’s Eoin Mullen and the duo did not finish their repechage heat, allowing Britain’s Matthew Crampton to cruise to victory and a place in the second round of the keirin.
